The Outside the Lines Communication Gallery of websites is growing steadily. Have a look at the projects we’ve completed, including this website!
This Website!
Type of website: Pro website with free WooCommerce and learning management system (LMS) plugins added so we can offer paid courses. The pro website package includes set up of a free MailChimp account so you can collect email addresses.
Theme: Neve, using only the Gutenberg blocks that come with WordPress so there is less to learn when you’re getting started. There is still a lot you can accomplish with the design basics.
Images/Logo: We are using free images from Pixabay – one of the free image websites we cover in our Build a Website Free Mini-Course. We also have a free Canva account for graphics (where we obtained the coloured pencil graphic).
Kara Foreman: Imagine
Type of website: Pro website with WooCommerce and learning management plugins added. She has also set up a free MailChimp account and added a sign-up form.
Theme: Neve, using only the Gutenberg block system that comes with WordPress. You can see how Kara has chosen different design elements so KaraForeman.com looks different from our OTL website which uses the same theme.
Images/Logo: Kara also uses free images from Pixabay and Canva for graphics.
Navigating Healthcare Canada
Type of website: Pro website with WooCommerce and learning management plugins added. Beth has also set up a free MailChimp account and added a sign-up form – and is now expanding into more blogging.
She has also added video from her YouTube channel and is working on blogging more regularly by organizing and participating in the Writers’ Accountability Group for Bloggers here at OTL.
Theme: Hestia, using only the Gutenberg block system that comes with WordPress.
Images/Logo: Like Kara, Beth is also using free images from Pixabay and Canva for graphics. The logo is a graphic she found on Canva.
UC Life Chiropractic
Type of website: Basic website package for a refresh when the practice got a new owner. We took down the many pages and YouTube videos from the previous owner, and streamlined the content of the new pages.
The new owner had her own logo and video to use and has an account with a practice booking website that only required us to link to it.
We updated email addresses in the existing hosting package and created documentation for the accounts impacted by the website so everything is in one place.
Theme: The current theme is Divi – a more complex, specialized WordPress ‘builder’. We left it in place, although it isn’t as easy for the practice staff to update on their own.
Images/Logo: The client had her own images and logo for us to use.
Nationalize Healthcare
(e-Petition, House of Commons)
Type of website: Pro website package for a small group of citizen activists who have had a petition approved through the House of Commons. Their initial goal is to get enough signatures to receive a formal response from the government.
The website has a few pages, a countdown timer for the 90 day signing period, and a MailChimp account to collect email addresses. The group also runs a Twitter account which is also visible on the website.
Theme: Hestia, using only the Gutenberg block system that comes with WordPress
Images/Logo: A basic one month essential images package from IStockPhoto.com let us download 10 images for $40. The logo was created online using a free logo-making service.
Tony Duke
Antique Dealer & Appraiser
Type of website: Basic website package for Beth’s husband who is an antiques consultant and has created a business that allows him to work and manage some major health challenges.
Theme: Tony’s site is running Neve as well as it is free and flexible in its design options.
Images/Logo: Tony has no set logo so he is using a personal picture. He does have permission to use the Canadian Antiques Roadshow logo as he was an expert for a number of tapings.
Finding Her Way Recovery
Addiction, Trauma and Recovery Blog
Type of website: Blogger website
We helped Ashauna build her website framework but then she took over the design and layout process herself. After experimenting and learning how to use WordPress, she found she really enjoyed the work. A true DIYer, she’s created a lovely website.
Theme: Neve, using only the Gutenberg block system that comes with WordPress.
Images/Logo: Ashauna created the logo herself using Canva and many of her images are her own. She also learned how to use Canva to create images and text for quotes on which she has added her website branding.
Bonnie Davy
Comox Valley Fine Artist
Type of website: Pro website with free WooCommerce plugin to run her store where she sells Giclee and Art Prints and Art Cards.
Theme: Neve, using only the Gutenberg block system that comes with WordPress.
Images/Logo: Bonnie created her logo and we used Canva to watermark all her art for copyright protection and branding.
